Fathom Analytics
Privacy-focused web analytics; self-hosting means the older MIT-licensed Fathom Lite.
Web Analytics
Fathom Analytics is privacy-first website analytics: pageviews, referrers, campaigns, events and revenue without cookies or personal data, positioned as a Google Analytics alternative. The vendor's current product is hosted only — its features FAQ answers the question 'Can I host the data locally?' with 'No. Fathom is a hosted product' — so running it yourself means operating Fathom Lite, the original open-source version from the same team, which uses cookies, keeps the older dashboard and is now maintained with bug fixes rather than new features. Hosted plans are flat monthly prices by pageview tier starting at 15 USD per month for up to 100,000 pageviews, and every plan includes at least 50 sites.

Fathom Lite (self-hosted)
- Limits
- Runs on your own servers with the older Lite dashboard. It uses cookies, and has no API, no custom events, ecommerce or UTM tracking, no device, browser or country metrics, no EU isolation or custom domains, and no email reports, CSV export or Google Analytics import. Support is the GitHub issue tracker only.
- Notes
- No fee is charged for Lite; you pay only for your own server. The vendor describes it as a self-hosted solution you install and manage yourself and states that with Lite you are on your own. The repository README calls it a previous, open-source version of the paid hosted product and says no new features are being added, only bug fixes; the last tagged release is v1.3.1 from January 2023.

Fathom Analytics (hosted)
- Limits
- Price follows the monthly pageview tier: 15 USD up to 100,000 pageviews, then 25, 45, 60, 100, 140, 200, 290, 380 and 470 USD up to 25 million, custom above that. Every plan includes at least 50 sites (75 on the 1M plan, 150 on the 5M plan) and extra sites cost 10 USD per month per pack of 50, up to 15 packs. All features are on every plan; there is no free plan, only a 7-day trial.
- Notes
- The recorded amount is the entry tier. This edition is not self-hostable: the features FAQ states Fathom is a hosted product so pageviews can be processed on a global CDN and EU visitor data kept in the EU. The vendor is closed source — the Lite page links their own episode on why they went closed-source.

- CaveatFathom's importer takes GA4 properties only: Google deleted Universal Analytics data on 1 July 2024 and the docs state there is no way to import it.Source
- CaveatThe importer belongs to the hosted product — Fathom's own comparison table marks GA import as ✗ for self-hosted Fathom Lite and ✓ for Fathom (hosted).Source
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4)The vendor states its GA importer brings GA4 data into Fathom; the importer ships with the hosted plans, not with Fathom Lite.Source
- ImportSite settings → Imports → New import → Google Analytics (GA4), sign in with Google, pick the property, map it to your domain, choose a timeframe and start the import.Source
- CaveatLarge imports fail: the docs say a single run with millions of pageviews times out, so it must be split into 1–2 year chunks, and a finished import can take up to 48 hours.Source
