Plane is a project management platform for tracking work items, running cycles as sprints, and managing roadmaps, pages and wikis, with a REST API, webhooks and an MCP server for integrations. It is aimed at teams replacing Jira, Linear, ClickUp or Asana, and it ships as a bundled Docker or Kubernetes deployment. The free self-hosted Community Edition is AGPL-3.0 and matches only the Free cloud tier: it has no Pro, Business or Enterprise Grid features, and the Jira, Linear, Asana, ClickUp, Notion and Confluence importers run only on Plane Cloud and the Commercial Edition. Running it yourself adds ongoing operational work, and paid self-hosted licences require a minimum of 10 seats.

- Parity with the Free cloud tier only: no Pro, Business or Enterprise Grid features, and no Jira, Linear, Asana, ClickUp, Notion or Confluence importers.
- Notes
- The self-hosting page states 'Community Edition is open source under AGPL v3.0. Free, no license key, full source available, you can audit and modify it.' The repository's LICENSE.txt holds the AGPL v3 text and package.json declares "license": "AGPL-3.0", read on 2026-09-21. Plane publishes no user cap for the Community Edition — the 12-seat free allowance belongs to the Commercial Edition — and no price is charged for it.
Commercial Edition (self-hosted)

- Public annual pricing: a Free tier of up to 12 user seats, Pro at 6 USD and Business at 13 USD per seat per month (8 and 15 USD when billed monthly); self-hosted licences require a minimum of 10 seats, and granular access control, multiple workflows with approvals, LDAP and API-enabled audit logs need Enterprise Grid. The Airgapped variant carries the same features with offline licence activation and is quoted separately.

- The self-hosting whitepaper states: 'Public annual pricing lists four plans: Free at $0 for up to 12 users, Pro at $6 per seat per month, Business at $13 per seat per month, and Enterprise Grid by quote.' Read again on 2026-09-21. The pricing page shows the same Pro 6 and Business 13 on annual billing (8 and 15 monthly) and its self-hosted tab adds 'Self-hosted licenses require a minimum of 10 seats.' The 6 USD per seat per month is recorded as the Pro, annual-billing level, with the range and the minimum in featureLimits. The Commercial Edition code is closed-source and activates with a licence key bought from the Prime portal; Plane publishes no licence name for it, so licenseName is null.

- The pricing page lists 'Enterprise Grid, Quote on request, Talk to us' with no amount or currency, so priceAmount is null rather than guessed. The developer docs also describe activating an Enterprise Grid licence on the self-hosted Commercial and Airgapped editions.
